CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY THEATER GROUP & ATLANTA COMMUNITY PARTNERS PROMOTE HIV/AIDS PREVENTION FOR WORLD AIDS DAY ATLANTA 2010.
You Passed Me By - Atlanta
“You Passed Me By” was written in response to the Black church’s lack of response to AIDS in the Black community. At the time much of the church was convinced that everyone that contacted the disease was homosexual and/or drug addicted and bound for hell. The play was designed to send the message that “it’s not who you are it’s what you do that places a person at risk for HIV”. YPMB also mobilized members of the faith based community r through the production process which included HIV/AIDS Prevention Education preparing participants to be a source of information within the church. The project was an opportunity to protest and offer a solution, Bent Not Broken Inspired tells Life stories on stage and this true story needed to be told.
