Our Purpose
Bent Not Broken Inspired accomplishes it works through a series of theater arts-centered initiatives, to the right (and below) find more information about how we engage our work.
Theater Arts
Our primary work for social justice is realized through the incredible power of theater. Theater allows imagination to illuminate and investigate social-ills and hardships that social progress masterfully eludes. Through the lens of performance, we are able to tell life-stories on stage; particularly stories that are often dismissed; the stories of the marginalized, racial, sexual and gendered minorities. The Late Jose Munoz notes that performance is worldmaking. It allows incredible insight into the real-life struggles of ordinary people. Therefore, we champion theater as one of the most powerful social justice tools available to us in the contemporary moment.
